Cytochrome [C.ssub.552] mutants: Structure and dynamics at the active site probed by multidimensional NMR and vibration echo spectroscopy
Article Abstract:
Spectrally resolved infrared stimulated vibrational echo experiments are used to measure the vibrational dephasing of a CO ligand bound to the heme cofactor in two mutated forms of the cytochrome [C.sub.552] from Hydrogenobacter thermophilus. Multidimensional NMR experiments determined that the geometry of residue 64 in the two mutants is consistent with a non-hydrogen bonding and hydrogen bonding interaction with CO ligand for Ht-M61A and Ht-61A/Q64N respectively.

A porous multilayer dye-based photoelectrochemical cell that unexpectedly runs in reverse
Article Abstract:
Mechanistic basis for photocurrent reversal is studied and implications of the observation for the performance of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) displaying conventional photocurrent responses are reported. It was observed that in aqueous I3(super -)/I(super -) solutions the sensitized electrodes unexpectedly produce cathodic photocurrents, the opposite of the anodic photocurrents geenrally observed with conventional dye-senstized solar cells (DSSCs).

Direct measurement of the internal electron quasi-Fermi level in dye sensitized solar cells using a titanium secondary electrode
Article Abstract:
The position of the quasi-Fermi level (QFL) at the electrolyte side of the dye sensitized Ti[O.sub.2] film in a dye sensitized nanocrystalline solar cell (DSC) is measured by using a thin passivated titanium contact deposited on top of the nanocrystalline Ti[O.sub.2] by evaporation. The method has allowed the changes in the electron QFL at all points on the IV characteristic of the cell to be monitored under dark and photostationary conditions.
